Last year, there was a story about a Panda called, Ai Hin who faked a pregnancy to improve her quality of life at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. After showing prenatal signs such as change in appetite and moving less, the ‘mothers-to-be’ are moved into single rooms with air conditioning and around-the-clock care. They also receive more buns, fruits and bamboo, so some clever pandas, such as Ai have used this to their advantage.
